2030 Agenda Commitment

Sustainable Development Goals

Fide and the 2030 Agenda

We want, from this space to express the commitment of FIDE with the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG*) that is gaining momentum around the world. A multitude of organizations and institutions have committed themselves in this Decade of Action to fulfill the promise of the 2030 agenda by making these World Goals their own.

The sustainable development agenda encompasses 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to achieve a sustainable future for people and the planet. The 17 SDGs were approved by all the Member States of the United Nations in 2015. In turn, the SDGs have 169 indicators which offer a guide to which factors are relevant within each objective.

The year 2020 marks the beginning of the decade of action where a call is made to all the different actors in society to mobilize towards action at the global, local, and personal level. During the first five years of the 2030 agenda, much progress has been made, however, inequalities and Climate Change continue to threaten achievements at all levels. COVID 19 has shown the need for transformation towards sustainable development that includes all people and the planet.

The most important goal of the 2030 agenda is to leave no one behind. For this reason, it is more relevant than ever that all Civil Society actors actively participate in the transformation. From the Foundation FIDE We are committed to promoting dialogue and obtaining effective proposals to achieve the aforementioned objectives. We carry out this work through our debate sessions, our conversations and our Working Groups, aligning ourselves directly or indirectly with the aforementioned objectives.
