Guillermo Zamarripa Escamilla currently holds the post of President and CEO at AMAFORE. He is also President of the International Federation of Pension Fund Administrators (FIAP) and President of the Mexican Council of Sustainable Finance (CMFS), a columnist at the Excelsior newspaper, a commentator on ADN 40, and an independent board member. From 2011 to 2022, he was the CEO of the FUNDEF A.C. Between 2005 and 2010, he was Director of the Banking, Securities and Savings Unit at the Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP). Within the public sector he has also held other posts, including Vice Chair of Financial Supervision at the National Banking and Securities Commission. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Accounting from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He has published articles in academic journals and books, including Borrowing on the Wrong Credit Card: Evidence from Mexico (American Economic Review), Related Lending (Quarterly Journal of Economics) and Institutional Design of Pension Systems vs. Labor Market Structure: What Matters Most? (Journal of Work, Aging and Retirement)
