About the Global ESG Think-Tank

The GET-2 Think-Tank is an international initiative promoted by the Fide Foundation to explore how finance, innovation and strategic investment can support the transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and competitive economy.

Bringing together investors, asset managers, business leaders, policymakers, academics and legal experts, GET-2 approaches sustainable finance from a practical and investment-oriented perspective. Its work focuses on analysing how capital markets, regulation, technology, infrastructure needs and geopolitical shifts are reshaping investment decisions and long-term value creation.

Through conferences, working groups, publications and high-level dialogue, GET-2 provides a platform for rigorous debate and actionable insight on energy transformation, technological innovation, competitiveness, regulation and climate-related risk.

What we've done

Since its creation, the GET-2 Think-Tank has developed a sustained international dialogue on sustainable finance, transition strategies and the role of capital in supporting long-term economic transformation. Through its annual Oxford Congress and related expert discussions, GET-2 has brought together investors, asset managers, policymakers, business leaders, academics and legal professionals to examine how sustainability, competitiveness and financial decision-making can be better aligned.

2023 - Congress 1 | Overcoming the main ESG investing challenges

The first Oxford Congress laid the foundations for this work by creating a space for cross-sector reflection on the changing role of sustainability in the global economy. Discussions addressed key questions around climate risk, corporate transparency, governance, market expectations and the practical challenges faced by companies and investors in adapting to a rapidly evolving landscape.

Building on this initial momentum, the Oxford/24 Congress, “Driving Change: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in Accelerating Sustainable Finance,” expanded the conversation around the speed, scale and scope required to advance sustainable finance. The programme explored the role of institutional investors, transition finance, regulatory developments, corporate strategy and the need to turn sustainability commitments into credible, measurable and financially sound action.

In September 2025, GET-2 held a new edition of its annual congress under the theme “Reaching Pragmatism in Sustainability.” Oxford/25 marked an important step in the Think-Tank’s evolution, placing stronger emphasis on practical implementation, financial discipline, decision-useful data and real-world outcomes. The discussions focused on how sustainability goals can be pursued in a way that remains compatible with competitiveness, fiduciary responsibility, profitability and effective investment decision-making.

Building on the conclusions and momentum of Oxford/25, preparations are now underway for the Oxford/26 Congress, “Energy, Innovation, and Geopolitical Shifts: Strategic Investment Opportunities,” which will take place from 16 to 18 September 2026. This new edition will place innovation at the heart of the energy transition, exploring how the transformation of energy systems, geopolitical change, infrastructure finance and climate risk management intersect with new technologies, disruptive solutions and strategic investment opportunities.

Together, these milestones reflect GET-2’s gradual evolution from broad sustainability debate towards a more pragmatic, investment-oriented and opportunity-driven conversation about the future of sustainable finance.

Testimonials

What participants have said about our activities:

«It has been my 3rd year attending the Oxford Congress representing Sabadell Urquijo Gestión. It has been marvelous organized by Fide, congratulations for the great work done. The structure of the Congress, topics discussed, and panelists are every year even better. It has been notorious that this year we were more than 80 people attending the Congress, which has been a huge challenge in terms of organization. We are facing in the coming months very important sustainable themes in terms of regulation, taxonomy, impact investing and active engagement that has made these Congress even more important than others.»

Carlos Garay Gómez-Arroyo – Oxford/24 Congress

«Attending FIDE’s Congress, Jesus College in Oxford has become a professional highlight of my year. The Congress gathers exceptional academics and professionals from asset management companies, listed companies, consulting firms, regulatory agencies, and multilateral organizations. The mix enables a most enriching discussion of complex topics from different perspectives. The brain power gathered, the Congress and the Oxford venue inspires you to leave daily work behind, to think and to learn. I always meet fascinating people with whom to chat and make friendships during the formal dinners, the college and the informal post-dinner drinks, the Oxford pubs.«

Eva Mª Gutiérrez – Oxford/24 Congress

«FIDE´s Oxford Congress has been a magnificent opportunity to test and gauge the views of professionals across the industry on the trendiest topics regarding sustainability. It has been good to know that most of players shares views on main pain points and consequently there may be room for an aligned road map. I would personally point out that: a) ESG should no longer be grounded in disclosures and voluntary action; b) massive willingness from the industry to execute and not only to pretend to execute; c) importance to gain access to reliable sources of data; d) importance of joint initiatives involving private and public sector (such as blended finance) as a tool to shift towards structural changes; e) need of patience in order for clients to understand that investing under ESG criteria must be seen in the long-term as regards profitability.«

Bernardo Cabo Rey – Oxford/24 Congress
