Energy, Innovation, and Geopolitical Shifts: Strategic Investment Opportunities

An initiative by the Fide’s GET-2 ESG Think-Tank

16th, 17th, 18th of September 2026

Jesus College, Oxford.

About the Oxford/26 Congress

The Oxford Congress 2026, “Energy, Innovation, and Geopolitical Shifts: Strategic Investment Opportunities,” will explore how innovation, energy transformation, infrastructure finance and geopolitical change are reshaping sustainable finance and long-term investment decisions.

Building on GET-2’s pragmatic approach to sustainability, the Congress will focus on the opportunities and risks emerging from the energy transition, climate-related challenges, technological disruption and changing global market dynamics.

It will bring together leading voices from finance, business, policy, academia and law to discuss how strategic investment can support a more sustainable, resilient and competitive economy.

What to expect

The Oxford Congress 2026 will mark a new stage in the work of the GET-2 Think-Tank, placing innovation at the centre of the energy transition and exploring how sustainable finance can respond to a rapidly changing geopolitical and economic landscape.

The Oxford Congress 2026 aims to:

  1. Explore how the convergence of energy transition, artificial intelligence, longevity, demographic change and geopolitical fragmentation is reshaping the foundations of the global economy and investment landscape.
  2. Analyse the transition from a world optimised for efficiency towards one increasingly focused on resilience, energy security, technological sovereignty, sustainable growth and industrial competitiveness.
  3. Examine how innovation in energy systems, AI infrastructure, electrification, storage technologies and critical materials is redefining productivity, economic growth and long-term value creation in ageing societies.
  4. Discuss the financing and investment implications of the new infrastructure cycle required for the transition, including energy networks, digital infrastructure, climate adaptation and strategic industrial capabilities.
  5. Promote cross-sector dialogue among investors, policymakers, corporations, academics and industry experts to identify pragmatic and forward-looking solutions for a more resilient, technologically advanced and sustainable economic future.
