David Razú Aznar is an economist who graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he also obtained a Diploma in Stock Market Finance. He holds a master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) and another in Public Administration from Harvard University.
He has held various senior positions in the Federal Government related to labor market and social security policy and research, including: Deputy Director of Economic Studies at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), where he represented the institution on multiple occasions before CONSAR’s Advisory and Oversight Committee; Head of the Planning and Evaluation Unit at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS); International Expert Consultant for the Housing and Urban Development Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); Director of Institutional Liaison and Delegation Evaluation at IMSS; and Local Deputy in the V Legislature of the then Legislative Assembly of the Federal District.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Afore XXI Banorte, jointly owned in equal parts by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and Grupo Financiero Banorte, which has become the largest pension fund in Latin America, with more than 8 million clients and over one trillion pesos under management.
