Jorge PADILLA (Spain)
Chair of Compass Lexecon International. Dr. Padilla earned M. Phil and D. Phil degrees in Economics from the University of Oxford. He is Research Fellow at the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI, Madrid) and teaches competition economics at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE).
He has given expert testimony before the competition authorities and courts of several EU member states, as well as in cases before the European Commission. Dr Padilla has submitted written testimony to the European General Court, and the UK Competition Appeals Tribunal in cartel, merger control and abuse of dominance cases. He has also given expert testimony in various civil litigation (damages), international arbitration, and competition cases in non-EU jurisdictions (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, India, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States).
Dr Padilla has written numerous papers on competition policy, industrial organization, intellectual property and finance in the Antitrust Bulletin, the Antitrust Law Journal, Economics Letters, the Economic Journal, the Energy Journal, the European Competition Journal, the European Competition Law Review, the Fordham International Law Journal, Industrial and Corporate Change, the International Journal of Industrial Organization, the Journal of Competition Law and Economics, the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Harvard Journal of law and Technology, Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law, the Journal of Industrial Economics, the Journal of Economic Theory, the RAND Journal of Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the University of Chicago Law Review, and World Competition.
Dr Padilla is member of the Board of Trustees of the Fide Foundation, Fundación Dadóris and Fundación Jorge Padilla Blanco as well as a Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society (RES, London).
Javier FERNÁNDEZ-LASQUETTY (SPAIN)
Seasoned expert in Intellectual Property (IP), Information Technology (IT), and biotechnology, with extensive experience in technology transfer, licensing, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
He has been a professor of IP law at IE Law School since 1988, teaching in both LLB and LLM programs, and currently serves as the Academic Coordinator for IP in the LLM program.
An accredited mediator and arbitrator at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, he is also a member of its Advisory Board.
He serves on the Academic Council of FIDE and is the Academic Coordinator of the Global Digital Encounters, a joint initiative by FIDE and TIPSA.
He is also a member of the Academic Council of the Master’s Program in European Union Law at Universidad Carlos III.
Prof. Laurent MANDERIEUX (Italy/France)
Professor of Intellectual Property Law at L. Bocconi University of Milan, Italy, Member of the Directorate Board, Bocconi LL.M in Law of Internet Technology, Director, Bocconi Summer Schools in Law, Chair, European IP Teachers’ Network, Coordinator, Transatlantic IP Academy and is invited Professor / Lecturer of Intellectual Property Law in Universities and Training institutes in many countries of Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. In addition to his IP teaching, numerous Publications, and IP research activities at Bocconi, one of the most prestigious and high-ranked Universities in the European Union, Laurent Manderieux is Senior Intellectual Property Expert for various international Organisations and governments. He was for many years Official and Senior Official at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland: in particular, as Head, WIPO Public Affairs and Media Relations, he took care of training and information for government officials, lawyers, researchers, scientists, and business circles (in this capacity he prepared training material and IP publications, and made up to 100 presentations per year). Before joining WIPO, he also worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) in Rome, Italy; and at the European Union in Brussels. Over the last two decades, he wrote numerous publications and studies, and undertook international projects for the EU, the EPO, UNDP, UNCTAD, WIPO, IDLO, OIF, and various Governments. In this context, visited some 140 countries. He works in French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German. Member of Fide’s International Academic Council.
