Marie-Pierre Rey

Professor of Russian and Soviet History at the University Pantheon-Sorbonne

Marie-Pierre Rey is a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris). She holds a PhD (1989) and an accreditation to supervise research (1997) in Modern History. From 1988, she has been Professor of Russian and Soviet History at the University Pantheon-Sorbonne and since 2017, also director of the Sorbonne research program ‘Identities, international relations, and civilizations of Europe’.

As a specialist of Russian-European relations and Russian history she has written numerous books and articles. Among her publications of her: Alexandre Ier, the Tsar who defeated Napoleon: Flammarion 2009, 2013 and 2020, translated in English and in Russian; an Atlas historique de la Russie: Autrement, 2017 and 2019, co-written with FX Nérard; The Euromissile Crisis and the End of the Cold War, coedited with L. Nuti, F. Bozo and B. Rother: Stanford, 2015); Visions of the End of the Cold War in Europe, 1945-1990 coedited with L. Nuti, F. Bozo and B. Rother: Berghann, 2012;  Europe and the end of the Cold War, a reappraisal, coedited with F. Bozo, NP Ludlow and L. Nuti: Routledge, 2008.

MP Rey is also a member of the scientific Board of several academic journals; she is president of the scientific council of the French university colleges in Russia, a member of the scientific board of the Paulsen scholarship program at the LSE and a member of the coordinating Council of the Trianon Dialogue.
