The post-COVID Crisis environment is marked by a major breakout of IP legal disputes on contracts that were / are deeply affected in all parts of the world, with a considerable amount of contract breeches. This means a rapid surge in litigation, and fast-increasing interest for Advance Disputes Resolution, both arbitration and mediation. At the same time, this complex new environment brings new challenges and opportunities to arbitration and mediation, in particular on online operations, distance-based operations, small business access to arbitration and mediation, enforceability of arbitration, information and transparency on arbitrators’ choice. Speakers will provide a broad picture of the increased, but also, changing role of IP Arbitration and Mediation in a profoundly transformed post-crisis business environment.

Catherine A. ROGERS (CV)
Professor of law whose teaching and scholarship focuses on the intersection of professional regulation and market dynamics in international arbitration. She teaches at Queen Mary, University of London, where she also co-directs the Institute of Ethics, Regulation and Commercial Law. She is also currently a visiting professor at Bocconi University and is on leave from Penn State Law. Catherine is the founder and CEO of Arbitrator Intelligence, a legal tech start-up that provides unique, quantifiable and contextualized data analytics for arbitrator selection. Among other appointments, Catherine is a Reporter for the American Law Institute’s Restatement of the U.S. Law of International Commercial and Investor-State Arbitration and was a co-chair of the ICCA-Queen Mary Task Force on Third-Party Funding in International Arbitration together with William W. Park.

Head of the Intellectual Property, Technology & Media, Telecommunications and Data Protection Practices at Wong Partnership LLP, a leading Singapore law firm.
He has extensive experience representing multinational companies, listed corporations and government clients on regulatory, transactional, enforcement and advisory matters. He is a leading practitioner in his areas of expertise, having won many awards and accolades.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been appointed as an IP Adjudicator empowered to hear disputes before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, as well as to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre’s Panel of Arbitrators for IP Disputes, and the World Intellectual Property Organization Panel of Film and Media Mediators, Arbitrators and Experts, among others. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar and to the Roll of Solicitors of England & Wales.
Ignacio DE CASTRO (CV)
Director of the IP Disputes and External Relations Division at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre in Geneva. Ignacio is a Spanish lawyer and an English solicitor. Ignacio holds an LL.M. degree from King’s College London. Ignacio supervises the administration of a growing number of cases submitted to the WIPO Center under the WIPO Mediation, Arbitration and Expedited Arbitration Rules.
